Legal validity, without a generic script
A civil wedding in Italy follows procedures set by the Italian authorities and takes place with the local municipality. Through a special procedure we can also lead legally binding ceremonies in many places of your choice. It is not available everywhere: where it is not, the legal ceremony takes place at the town hall or in a venue authorised by the municipality. Every case is different, so we explain how it works on a call once we receive your request.
Our role is to make sure the ceremony is personal, elegant and true to you, while fully respecting the official procedure.
Wedding paperwork is something we know well: our founder Francesca has worked with Italian wedding paperwork since 2009, and since 2012 she also teaches courses for wedding planners and future wedding planners.

Who handles the legal paperwork?
Civil paperwork and procedures are managed by our specialist team at WeddingInTuscany.info. We take care of the ceremony and make sure it fits the procedure.
Do we need an interpreter?
If one of you, or one of your witnesses, does not speak Italian, Italian law requires a certified interpreter at the civil ceremony. We coordinate qualified interpreters for this.
Can a civil ceremony still be personal?
Yes. Within the legal framework, we help you add personal words, readings and moments so the ceremony feels like yours.
Can a legally binding ceremony take place outside the town hall?
Often, yes. Through a special procedure we can lead legally binding ceremonies in many places of your choice, but it is not available everywhere: where it is not, the ceremony takes place at the town hall or in a venue authorised by the municipality. We explain how it works on a call once we receive your request.
Can we combine a civil and a symbolic ceremony?
Yes. Some couples complete the civil ceremony and then celebrate with a symbolic ceremony with all their guests.
