It began with one couple
In 2009 a Canadian couple asked their wedding planner to lead their ceremony. That planner was Francesca. 17 years later, Italian Wedding Celebrants is a team of nine celebrants working all over Italy.
Our story
From public speaking to wedding ceremonies
From 1996 to 2012 Francesca worked as a public speaker for multinational companies, and in the last of those years she was also planning weddings in Italy.
In 2009 a Canadian couple she was planning for did not want a celebrant they had never met. Knowing how fluent she was in English, they asked her to lead their ceremony. She still remembers them with infinite affection: that day started everything.
Francesca soon realised there was a real gap for professional, multilingual celebrants in Italy, and began leading more and more ceremonies.

Why IWC exists
A celebrant team that works alongside planners
We keep our celebrant work separate from wedding planning out of respect for the wedding planners who only plan, and to support them. Planners across Italy trust us with their couples' ceremonies, knowing we will never compete for their work. We are also a point of reference for wedding planners from abroad who organise weddings in Italy.

Francesca has worked with Italian wedding paperwork since 2009, and since 2012 she also teaches it to wedding planners and future wedding planners.

We welcome every couple, and have long experience with ceremonies for LGBTQ+ couples.
A trained team
Every IWC celebrant has had at least two years of training in the field with a senior celebrant before leading ceremonies on their own.

Trained by Francesca, true to our values
Francesca has trained and onboarded every celebrant in the team. The last to join was her son Tommaso, who found the work fascinating and moving when he came back to Italy after eight years in the UK.
Each of us spent at least two years alongside a senior celebrant before working independently. That is why, whoever leads your ceremony, you can expect the same care, the same values and the same attention to detail.

Beatrice Giacometti was our celebrant for our beautiful wedding in Tuscanny last August 2018. We came from Ireland where most weddings are in a Catholic church and as we did not want to have a church wedding we opted for an outside symbolic wedding in a private Villa with close friends and family. She gave us multiple options where we could customize it and also gave us options where we could follow the standard format. Francesca provided outstanding service including the option of having a real Protestant wedding rather than a symbolic one. This is not easy to achieve in Italy. She understands the detailed steps needed for the legal paperwork for Australia.

Who founded Italian Wedding Celebrants?

Are your celebrants trained?
Yes. Every IWC celebrant has had at least two years of training in the field with a senior celebrant. Francesca, Francina and Simona have been ordained ministers since 2010, and other members of the team have been ordained since.
Are you wedding planners?
No. We focus on ceremonies. We work alongside wedding planners all over Italy, and we are a point of reference for wedding planners from abroad who organise weddings in Italy. For full planning our group has WeddingInTuscany.info.
Do you lead ceremonies for LGBTQ+ couples?
Yes, gladly. We welcome every couple and have long experience with LGBTQ+ ceremonies.
