Your values, your words

A humanist or non-religious ceremony celebrates your commitment through your story, your values and the people who matter to you. It is a symbolic ceremony, so it can take place anywhere in Italy, from a vineyard to a castle terrace.

It has no legal value on its own: many couples marry legally at home or with a civil ceremony and celebrate with a humanist ceremony in Italy.

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Francesca! Her words and communication skills were just perfect.

Francesca was amazing! We were two couples traveling to celebrate our wedding 30-year wedding anniversary (lifelong friends, each couple married months apart in 1987). Scott and I wanted to surprise our wives with a ceremony to renew our vows. This was all with short notice (we arranged this in weeks... I recommend months for others :). We were lucky enough to be introduced to Francesca. Via email, she asked all the right questions and customized the ceremony. She even incorporated letters from our children (her idea). It felt like she somehow knew exactly what we wanted/needed. Needless to say, our wives were surprised, and we were all very touched by the event. None of that would have been possible without the professionalism, collaboration, kindness and hard work of Francesca!

We met Beatrice through our wedding planner and knew after our first Zoom meeting that we would like to have Beatrice as our officiant. She made the whole process very easy for us and listened to our personal history and held a beautiful ceremony. We can highly recommend Beatrice.

FAQ

Questions couples ask us

Is a humanist ceremony a symbolic ceremony?

For us every ceremony that is not a civil wedding is a symbolic ceremony. A humanist ceremony is simply a symbolic ceremony written without religious elements.

Is a humanist ceremony legally valid in Italy?

No. For a legal wedding you need a civil ceremony following the Italian procedure.

Can we still include rituals?

Yes. Rituals such as handfasting or a sand ceremony are not religious and fit a humanist ceremony well.

Do you lead freie Trauungen in German?

Yes. Marco and Simona lead ceremonies in German.

How long is a humanist ceremony?

About half an hour, and we suggest 20–25 minutes. Without religious elements, all of that time is about your story, your values and the people around you. It can be shorter or longer if you wish, although we do not usually recommend it.
